Contribution to your learning

and your learning community

(5318-5389)

I firmly believe that human beings have the power to do incredible things; the only limit is the infinite sky. We have in our hands the keys to help others develop their abilities, saving the experiences we have to design plans or strategies that can contribute to the learner being better and achieving their goals; people are not born with experiences; it takes time throughout life. When I think about the contributions that these courses have given me and how they have contributed to my life, my professional career, and my community, I can only say that they changed the way I live my life every day because I continue to discover skills that I have and that I never thought were in me.

In my own life, there have been moments where challenges have come, and I have heard negative thoughts that you are not going to make it. For example, when I arrived in the United States, I faced the challenge of learning a new language. It indeed represented a wall of fear in me. In the process of this course, I have been learning how to develop a great or powerful performance in life. Our brains change based on what we do and feel. We need to understand our mindset because this is the key to taking on challenges and being open to saying, “I can, I will do it. It’s not going to be easy, but I will do my best.

One of the benefits I received from this course was that, as a student, I need to gain experiences and knowledge from others and share mine with them. Not only do my experiences count, but simultaneously, as a teacher, I learned that creating an optimal learning environment at every stage of educational life is imperative. In this course, I learned how to analyze, design, and make an online or blended learning course and how to prototype our online learning project for critical stakeholders. Also, I learned those important elements of online learning design to develop an effective online or blended course design. Also, in this course, I had the opportunity to build and share my thoughts and experiences as I created my blended learning course design. Furthermore, the experience I gained in this course helped me understand that presenting and sharing information that I have collected and tested in my own environment is a great way to connect with others and demonstrate leadership skills.

In this course I had the opportunity to put into practice the values learned in other courses such as choice, ownership, and voice through authentic learning opportunities. Also, another relevant point is that research has shown that incorporating formative educational assessment or feedback will also help continue that shift towards the learning mindset. The power of a growth mindset is powerful, amazing, and should be shared with everyone.

The definition of expertise can vary for each one. At the beginning of this course, I noticed the importance of participating in the discussion on the topics of each assessment. It was a valuable time when we could express our opinions, add some comments on blogs, or simply read other colleagues' discussions on a topic. This made me reflect on how important it is to share our expertise with others because it is not enough to have a skill to learn. Without reflecting on these experiences, they can be quickly forgotten, or the learning potential is lost.

This experience has motivated me to identify the key concepts needed for a new learning culture, especially in light of innovative approaches such as blended learning. I will explore the challenges of adopting this new perspective and consider how it can be easily implemented.

As part of my efforts to transform the learning culture and environments for my students and teaching colleagues, I initiated an alternative Professional Learning (PL) call to action. The best way to create a better learning environment for your students is to seek one that aligns with your professional needs.

My vision includes developing five principles of effective professional development – a why and a what. This brief moment presents an opportunity to re-evaluate, redefine, reinvent, and communicate my ideas, ultimately changing the conversation for my personal and professional growth.

When creating my goals, I found that developing and aligning outcomes was the most challenging aspect; however, the three-column table and the Udb Framework were helpful tools that benefited me on a day-to-day basis. Although I still struggle with this process, I am grateful for the help I have received.

My colleagues Siary, Yunuen, and Nelyda have supported me enormously during the last two topics. Their experiences and knowledge have been enlightening, and the group discussions have helped me clarify concepts and understand different points of view. Listening to my peers' opinions has been a source of satisfaction. These two topics have been challenging, but they have also helped me develop as a person.

During our weekly meetings, my peers and I achieved significant results. By sharing knowledge about each other's projects, we were able to develop and plan an alternative Professional Learning (PL) program. We supported each other by adapting the program to fit our projects. This was an impressive achievement, as we had never seen anything like it in our experience as teachers. By addressing professional gaps in our daily lives, we were able to build a valuable project.

The EDLD 5318 94/100 course taught me how to explore design considerations, such as quality, accessibility, and design guidelines, and how to select an e-learning design approach. In addition, you will learn how to select a platform and implement a prototype of my blended learning course and share the implementation with my peers. I completed almost all the reading and videos required for this course, but I missed some live sessions. Also, I was watching the recorded session and reached out to my peers if I had any questions.

At this point, I am going to determine the numerical score for the self-assessment - this is my first Master's in Education. However, I am going to be honest, I am trying to do my best and will continue to improve in those areas where it is necessary. I consider that I got 94 out of 100 in EDLD 5318, but for the next courses, I want to improve my grades. This reflection on the grade is based on the fact that all the key contributions were met, and some of the supporting contributions were not met.

The course EDLD 5389 94/100, “Developing Effective Professional Learning,” which I found a bit difficult to understand at first. It may be due to my lack of experience in leading projects and setting goals. However, I must acknowledge that my team played a crucial role in encouraging and guiding me, particularly during the first assignment. Due to work commitments, I could not attend all the class calls. However, I read and participated in every discussion and contribution. I also completed all the assignments and complied with each one's alignment. Overall, this subject was enriching and helped me improve my knowledge and professional learning.
