CSLE + COVA is a learning approach, not a method or model to be applied, to prepare our learners to lead organizational change using technology innovations as a catalyst for enhancing learning. Prepare leaders who can lead organizational change and drive innovation in a digitally connected world.
The e-Portfolio is a key to the success of the project. We can work at our own pace and in our own way, and own something incredibly valuable, and ideas. The e-Portfolio is like a magic ball that reveals much about our identity and purpose. The purposes of ePortfolios are many and varied. They work very nicely as compelling digital resumes. They are also effective tools for schools, marketing, and other purposes that can help to develop projects and get feedback. For each ePortfolio purpose, the design should be distinct and unique. The ePortfolios have become increasingly useful in Higher Education, they provide a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their learning, connect ideas, and communicate those ideas to a variety of real-life audiences. Today ePortfolios are an essential part of the Universities around the world.
By creating significant learning environments or CSLE, we can add a special touch to all of these elements as a learning facilitator by using COVA+CSLE to structure our e-portfolio. We create a significant learning environment (CSLE) that gives our learners choice, ownership, and voice through authentic (COVA) learning opportunities.
While the choice, ownership, and voice (COVA) approach is still fairly new to me, it has helped to visually see a comparison between COVA and the Traditional Teacher-Centered Approach, it helps me to gauge where I am in the process and to remind myself what is best for my students.
The COVA learning approach is a collaborative, learner-centered approach that is grounded in the learning the approach uses active and authentic learning opportunities through the creation of significant learning environments to give learners control and ownership of their learning.
COVA stands for Choose, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic learning opportunities; my choices and with my full ownership acronym in relation to the e-Portfolio with the freedom to choose, we can express ourselves and customize our work according to my preferences and needs.
Ownership means that the thoughts and ideas are captured in our e-portfolio. We also have the opportunity to use our own Voice to revise and restructure our work and ideas. The Authentic learning opportunities offered by the e-Portfolio allow us to create and innovate something original and influential. The challenge in the process was organizing myself and my thoughts into something that made sense to someone else.
